I’ve noticed that nobody who works in costumer service believes in it anymore :( I hate shopping because the people don’t help you out at all, especially if you’re clothes shopping. You’re totally on your own!

I’ve talked to my daughter about this MANY times - why is it always ME telling THEM ‘have a nice day’ or ‘thank you’???

And I have “see ID” on all of my cards, and VERY RARELY am I asked for it - I always thank those that actually ask to see it.

That kind of stuff is my pet peeve. I usually do 2 things: At the end of our transaction I say, “you’re welcome” and I always talk to the manager & suggest perhaps they should give a remedial course on basic customer service.
You wanna know what else has changed? I remember (back in the day) when currency was sorted face up and facing the same direction. Now, NOBODY cares which way they’re facing. It’s so damn sloppy!

Oh.Oh. Since you brought up this doozie… the McDonalds out here teaches their employees to say, “have a nice day” instead of “thank you”...Why can’t they fucking say BOTH? Do they have a word limit?

I used to be in customer service and I was good at it and always said, hello, how are you, please, thank you, the whole 9 yards.

However, nowadays, I just have to remember my surroundings, I mean, if you’re not paying much? Or you’re at McDonalds? I just don’t expect too much out of the clerk.
I’ve just gotten to that point, it’s like, who looks more like an idiot - the clerk who works at a crappy minimum wage job and is rude? Or ME, if I freak out at them and call them stupid. I mean, obviously I know they’re stupid and can’t get a better job, so I just feel kinda sorry for them.

I always get chatty with folks like that. I’m real nice, say lots of shit-chat type things and all that. They usually start to warm up by the time the transaction is done. If they don’t, I usually finish with something like “Well, I really hope your day gets better, cheers.” And I say it with a big smile.

I once got told off for not saying please when buying a ticket on the bus. I had actually said it but the driver didn’t hear me. It made me want to swear instead but I smiled and said please in the silliest voice I could master. I should had been more sarcastic but it was too early in the morning and I hadn’t had my coffee.

The same thing happened to me twice during the past week. Both times, when I got my change and receipt, I said rather loudly, Well, Thank You, too, or don’t you give a damn in I spend money in here!?” Both times, the clerk responded, “Oh, thank you.” rather lack lusterly. I won’t be going back to either store, and called later to get the phone number and name of the store manager, who I called to express my dismay at my treatment. They both apologized.

That’s one of my major pet peeves, too! I HATE being ignored, and treated like I’m just a product on the conveyor belt, or something! GAH! I’ve been known to say, “Gee, I’m SO sorry I had to make you actually do your job! Fuck You Very Much, too!” as I walk off!

I’ve worked “behind the counter” myself, and no matter how bad my day had been, I NEVER took it out on the customers! I always greeted them with a smile, and a hello, and, as they left my counter, I ALWAYS said, “Thank You, have a nice day!” This is also something I say when I am the customer .... IF the one behind the counter has been nice and courteous to me! :0)

I only ever got nasty with two customers, and that was only because they got nasty with me first! But, they were greeted with a smile and a hello!! After thatm is when they got nasty with me. Bitches!

I got this “thing” ... If I wasn’t the one who pissed on your Wheaties, then don’t go takin it out on me! Instead, find the fucker who DID piss on your Wheaties, and take it out on THEM! ;0)

This is happening more and more if you ask me. I’m always pleasant to people when I require their services. And they seem to hate life. Not just work, but life. its sad really.

I went to Target last week and some twitt working the register did the same thing to me.  Only, after she wordlessly handed me my receipt, she immediately turned the light off and walked off.  Left me standing there.  I didn’t even have time to fold it up or anything. 
Kids are so whack now a days.  Not all of them, mind you, just a lot of them.

Is is wrong that I’m actually SHOCKED when I get good customer service??? When a clerk is friendly I’m in total shock.

Huge pet peeve for me as well… But when I get a rude cashier.. I like to call them on it.  I will usually say.. “Oh, are you having a bad day?” The WORST is when my 9-4 year old say Please & thank you… & they don’t even acknowledge them.  That is when I don’t care if I make an ass out of myself.... I will call them out and say… Perhaps you didn’t hear them?  My son usually walks out horrified… & I end with a comment about them being R U D E

I don’t so much care if they wish me a nice day or if they show me a full set of pearly whites, but it totally gets my goat when all they do is grunt or mumble at me and look like they were dragged to work and chained to the register against their will. I get that we don’t all love our jobs EVERY day, but good grief...I don’t need the negative energy!

I hate that shit.  It is seriously really bad and sadly becoming the norm.  I blame the management of these places… coach your damn people on customer service skills!  But then again that just goes to show you how crappy the management team is as well.  If you have poor leadership leading by example, then your staff will be crappy too.  Once in a blue moon I’ll get a person who is cheery and friendly and it blows me away I’m so surprised.

I have worked in customer service since i was old enough to work. And when i have to deal with a cashier, tech support rep, what ever, if they treat me rude, i let them know.

Best ever is around the holidays. A lot of us have been there. I was kicked out of a Walmart for telling the cashier to have a Merry Fucking Christmas after he was rude to me.

It’s a job. If you don’t like dealing with people, find another line of work. There’s days that i have a bad day, yet when i talk to a customer i have to force a smile on myself sometimes. And in the end it helps.

I’ve done that before when my brother was real small. Trying to teach kids manners and you have adults being rude like that. I’ve been escorted out of a few stores in my life. And i know it wont be the last either.
